Marble Worktops
Marble is a natural stone prized for its distinctive veining and variation. Each slab is individual, and the pattern, tone and mineral detail can vary within a slab and between slabs.
Choosing this surface
If a particular vein or colour balance matters, ask to view the current slab before fabrication. Small samples cannot show the full pattern, and matching veins across joins is dependent on slab dimensions and cut layout rather than something to assume.
Marble is more porous and more susceptible to acids than many engineered surfaces. Lemon, vinegar, wine and some cleaners can etch or mark the surface. Sealing can help reduce absorption but does not make marble stain-proof or etch-proof.
Consider how you use your kitchen as well as the appearance. A honed finish has a softer reflection and can show use differently from polished marble. Discuss finish, sealing and ongoing care for the chosen stone before ordering.
What shapes a quotation
Every layout is different, so we quote to your measurements and specification rather than publish a generic price per metre. The main factors include:
- The selected marble and slab grade or availability
- Slab yield, pattern direction and number of joins
- Thickness, finish and edge work
- Sink and hob cut-outs, upstands, splashbacks and installation access
Care and everyday use
Wipe spills promptly, especially acidic liquids. Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a chopping board. Sealing schedules depend on the stone and finish; ask for product-specific care advice.
