Porcelain Worktops

Porcelain slabs are manufactured from refined mineral materials at high temperature. They can offer a slim, contemporary profile and printed or through-body designs, but thickness, edge details and handling requirements differ from stone and quartz.

Choosing this surface

Compare the slab format, thickness, finish and whether the design continues through the body or is primarily a surface pattern. Those details affect visible edges, mitred build-ups and how a cut-out is finished.

Porcelain is generally resistant to heat, stains and UV, but the precise performance depends on the product and finish. Edges and unsupported spans can be vulnerable to impact, so use the recommended fabrication and installation details.

Choose a surface finish for the room and lighting. Matt, satin and polished surfaces have different reflections and may show fingerprints, water marks or surface texture differently.

What shapes a quotation

Every layout is different, so we quote to your measurements and specification rather than publish a generic price per metre. The main factors include:

  • Brand, colour, slab size and thickness
  • Layout, slab yield and number of joins
  • Edge build-up, cut-outs and any mitred features
  • Handling, access and the installation method required

Care and everyday use

Most porcelain surfaces can be cleaned with a soft cloth and a suitable mild cleaner. Avoid impact on exposed edges and check the maker's instructions for abrasive products and specialist finishes.
